    2009 Season begins

    Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 04:58 PM [General]

Once again we are producing the Dubuque Renaissance Faire, a fundraiser for the Dubuque Museum of Art.  Now beginning our second year, we have added a sponsor - Dubuque Bank & Trust has come on board to help us promote this event and to insure that ticket prices will remain low during this difficult economy.  Thank you DB&T!!!

If you are interested in auditioning for me, contact me NOW, as I hope to have the budget spent and contracts sent out by the end of February.

If you wish to join our great group of merchants, the application in on the website.  Just go to the Merchant tab and download it!

The photo contest has also begun on the website - go to  www.dbqart.com/DMAFaire.htm  and click on the Contest tab.  If you hail from the Dubuque area, try to guess where Edward and Cate are visiting each week - correct answers go into a drawing for a free ticket to the faire.

    Happy Holidays, everyone!

    Wednesday, December 24, 2008, 02:37 PM [General]

2008 draws to a close and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank many of you for your hard work at the Des Moines Renaissance Faire and the Dubuque Renaissance Faire.  It's the performers and merchants who bring the fantasy to life for old and young alike.  Many of you are like family now and your friendship and support over the last twelve months has been wonderful.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  King Edward and I are having a holiday open house for performers from the Des Moines Faire on January 3, 2009.  Send me a message if you didn't get an emailed invitation from me and I'll get you the particulars.

Happy Holidays and blessings to you all -

2009 - the wheels begin to turn!

    Monday, December 1, 2008, 03:03 PM [General]

Ideas for new shows are going through my head - one idea has already been postponed to 2010 - but the script for next season's swordfight is beginning to swirl through my mind and within the next week some of it ought to make its way onto my laptop.  Opening Gate, Closing Gate, what new things are in store?  I guess you'll just have to wait and see!  :-)

    Holiday plans

    Thursday, November 20, 2008, 05:48 PM [General]

Well, the holidays are fast approaching - time to set some plans in motion for family and also for fun! (not that the two can't go together) Thanksgiving will find Marty and me traveling to Dubuque to be with my relatives. It is also the first meeting to plan the 2009 Dubuque Renaissance Faire. We are meeting with the director of the Dubuque Museum of Art to set a few things in motion and to discuss the budget and entertainment options. December 6th will bring a fun spin on performing for us. Marty and I are part of the cast working at Christmas by the Lake at Clear Lake, Iowa. Instead of Ned and Cate, we shall play Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. (this IS a Victorian/Dickens event) It will involve improv, meeting up with friends like Ian Richard Sharpe and hopefully a good meal or two before we hole up at a romantic bed and breakfast for the night. Sunday I am hoping to do a bit of antiquing as we make our way south again to Ames. The actual Christmas holiday will probably just be Marty, his daughter Anna and me. (oh and a spaniel named Devon) Nice and cozy in front of the fireplace. Let the snow fly as we watch classic Christmas movies on TV. A holiday open house at our home in Ames is in the works for the weekend following New Years. Should be great. I'd love to hear how my friends will be spending their holiday season. Drop me a message or an email. Perhaps we can link up for a cup of cheer!
